Some children need more time. More practice. More structure.
If your child is in Kindergarten, Year 1, 2 or 3—and phonics just isn’t making sense yet—they’re not alone. Classrooms are busy, and sometimes children who need a little more repetition or clearer instruction can stall in progress.
That’s exactly why we’ve created Phonics Heroes—a small-group, online phonics program designed to give young learners the support they need to build strong reading and spelling foundations.
What is Phonics Heroes?
Phonics Heroes is a weekly 50-minute online session, run live by a qualified teacher, and designed to help children master the essential building blocks of reading and writing.
It’s based on the UFLI Foundations routine (University of Florida Literacy Institute)—an approach grounded in the science of reading and backed by decades of research.
Each group is matched by school year level (Kindergarten to Year 3), and class sizes are small—just 4 students per group—so every child gets the individual attention they deserve.
We also provide optional between-session resources via Google Drive to support your child’s learning at home.
Who is it for?
Phonics Heroes is ideal for children who:
Struggle to keep up with class-based phonics
Need help blending and segmenting sounds
Are just beginning to understand how reading and spelling works
Thrive in a calm, clear, structured learning environment
Are neurodivergent thinkers and benefit from repetition and routine
What makes it different?
Unlike big group programs or one-size-fits-all apps, this program is:
Live – your child is taught by a real, qualified teacher
Small group based – only 4 students per group
Structured and cumulative – we follow a clear, research-aligned scope
Supportive and easy – fixed weekly times, simple booking, all materials provided
Long-Term Learning
Phonics Heroes is designed as a year-long program, aligned with the UFLI Foundations sequence. While you can enrol by term, each term builds on the last. We recommend consistent attendance across the year to help your child build a complete, confident understanding of phonics—step by step.
