About this pack

Extend the foundation by introducing the next layer of sentence structure.

Pack 1 established the core of a sentence: a subject and a verb. But not all sentences are complete with just those two parts. Some verbs need an object because the action is directed at something or someone. Pack 2 extends that foundation by introducing the next layer of sentence structure: subject + action verb + object.

What this pack teaches

A sentence is a complete thought that makes sense on its own. A sentence has two parts:

  • a subject — who or what

  • a verb — what they do

In this pack, the verb also has an object:

  • an object — what the subject does the action to

If one part is missing, it is a fragment.

Examples from the pack:

  • a kid kicks a ball — complete sentence

  • drags a rock — fragment (no subject)

  • a pup — fragment (no verb)
