Literacy Support Built for
Every Stage
Literacy looks different at every stage of schooling.
A Kindergarten child learning to blend and segment sounds has entirely different needs to a Year 8 student who is working to organise a paragraph, or a Year 11 student who understands a text but struggles to construct a sustained analytical response. The skills required, the gaps present, and the instruction needed are different at each stage.
Jess Manton SES has built a service for each of these students: evidence-based, explicitly taught, and matched to the demands of their year level.
What connects every service is a shared commitment to explicit, systematic and cumulative instruction: the approach the evidence most consistently supports across every stage of literacy development.

structured teaching. thoughtful support.
Our teaching is grounded in structured literacy and evidence-informed educational practice. Skills are taught explicitly and revisited over time so students can build understanding gradually, with enough supported practice for learning to become secure and more independent.
Sessions are intentionally calm, carefully paced and responsive to where students are currently working. Many students benefit from smaller learning environments that allow teaching to remain targeted and appropriately supported.
We work in micro-groups of 2-3 students to provide regular feedback, guided practice and close monitoring of progress across literacy and English learning.
Support is tailored to the age and learning needs of each student. Depending on the pathway, sessions may focus on:
-
reading and spelling development
-
reading fluency and comprehension
-
vocabulary and morphology
-
sentence construction and written expression
-
analytical writing and essay structure
-
close reading and secondary English skills
As students grow, teaching adjusts alongside increasing literacy and academic demands while continuing to build confidence, understanding and independence over time.

Our Literacy Pathways
Intensive Literacy Intervention (Years 1 – 10) · One-to-One · Limited places
For students requiring more intensive, individualised literacy support.
This pathway begins with a conversation and assessment process to determine whether intensive intervention is the right fit.
.

Starting with the Right Level of Support
We support students requiring additional support with literacy or English across different stages of learning.
Many of the students attending our sessions are capable learners who benefit from:
â
-
smaller learning environments
-
more explicit teaching
-
additional repetition and supported practice
-
carefully paced instruction
For students in Kindergarten to Year 8, enrolment begins with a short, 30 minute screening assessment in-person or online so we can recommend the most appropriate pathway and level of support.
For students in Years 9–12, families are welcome to enquire directly about secondary English groups.
